Four steps, practiced across millennia.

Create separation from the outside world. Dim the lights, run the water, light incense or simply close the door. Preparation signals to the body that it is safe to slow down.
PURIFY
Cleanse the body through water, steam, friction and touch. Wash slowly and deliberately, allowing the mind to settle as the skin softens and awakens.
SOAK
Remain in the warmth a little longer. Let the water hold you. This is the stage of stillness, where breathing deepens, thoughts quieten and the nervous system begins to regulate itself.
SEAL
Finish by restoring softness to the skin and calm to the body. Moisture, scent and rest extend the ritual beyond the water itself.
