THE STORY BEHIND FIG MILKMay 26, 2026 · Sharmadean Reid

In Cleopatra’s palace, one of the Queen’s attendants moves quietly through the gardens and bathing chambers of Alexandria. Barely seen, but always present. Carrying oils. Lighting incense. Gathering figs at dawn while the palace is still cool from the night before.
Among Cleopatra’s attendants, one name survives history: Charmion. Ancient sources place her within Cleopatra VII’s intimate inner circle — trusted enough to remain beside the Queen in both palace life and death. She existed within the private architecture of power: arranging silks, preparing baths, tending to ritual. Not a ruler herself, but close enough to witness history unfold from only a few feet away.
“Some people enter history. Others stand close enough to breathe it in.”
From the shadows of the palace gardens, she watches the relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony unfold. Behind fig trees and lilies, she notices everything: the glisten of skin after bathing, the charged silence between lovers, the subtle exchanges of power between Queen and Roman general. She absorbs it all without speaking.
The fruit she carries is sacred. In Ancient Egypt, the sycamore fig was associated with Hathor, Nut and later Isis — goddesses connected to fertility, rebirth and protection. Sacred fig trees appeared throughout temple art and funerary mythology, their milky sap believed to nourish both body and soul. Across the ancient world, figs became associated with abundance, sensuality and renewal.
In Ancient Greece, figs were prized enough to be awarded to victorious athletes. In Rome, the fruit became linked to pleasure, luxury and fertility. Throughout Alexandria — where jasmine curled around citrus groves and steam drifted through marble courtyards — fig trees offered shade, sweetness and perfume.
FIG MILK is imagined through Charmion’s perspective. Creamy fig flesh warmed by the sun. Crushed green leaves beneath bare feet. Soft milk poured into warm water before the Queen’s evening bath. It is the scent of youth standing close enough to witness desire before fully understanding it. Quiet longing. Observation. The intimacy of remaining unseen.
When Roman soldiers entered Cleopatra’s mausoleum in 30 BC, Plutarch records that they found Charmion calmly adjusting the Queen’s diadem as death approached. When mocked by a soldier, she replied: “It is no less fitting for the descendant of kings.” Moments later, she collapsed beside her Queen.
Charmion remains one of the few women from Cleopatra’s inner world whose voice survives at all. FIG MILK is her atmosphere — green, milky and skin-close. The scent of watching history unfold from the edge of the room.
FOUNDER’S NOTE
“Figs feel unapologetically sensual to me. They’re soft, fleshy, dripping with sweetness, but there’s also something ancient and quiet in them. For FIG MILK, I wanted to capture the moment before desire, not the act, but the silent witness of it.
As a teenager, I learned how to be sensual through my mother. I saw her bathe herself, oil herself and walk down the street turning heads. I also used to watch a lot of French films during this time which were always full of teenage desire. Like Charlotte Gainsbourg in “An Impudent Girl” (1985). There is a scene where she looks through a floral iron gate at the piano protege.
This is what this scent is about. That look on her face is so full of longing and she doesnt even know what for. I think when we are young, we learn a lot about pleasure from images of those around us, and so I wanted this scent to embody a sensual protege in the palace of Alexandria. Someone who is voyeuristic and curious to learn from our star lovers, but is ‘green’ in her own experience.”

“She was not meant to be looked at. She was meant to watch.”
FIG MILK is a fine fragrance cleansing shower oil designed for daily bathing rituals. Built around notes of wild fig, violet leaf, cyclamen, coconut, cedarwood and benzoin, the scent is creamy, green and softly skin-like — blending ripe fruit, crushed leaves and warm milk into an intimate fragrance that lingers gently on the body.
The oil-to-milk formula transforms on contact with water, cleansing without stripping the skin while leaving the body hydrated, nourished and subtly scented. Formulated with plant-based oils including sunflower, grapeseed, avocado and castor oil, FIG MILK supports the skin barrier while delivering the sensorial depth of a luxury fragrance through both bath and shower.
Designed for those drawn to soft green scents, milky skin accords and understated intimacy, FIG MILK sits somewhere between fresh fig flesh, steamed milk and warm post-bath skin. Creamy without heaviness and sweet without excess, it works particularly well for slow mornings, evening baths and moments that call for softness, closeness and calm.
Massage onto wet skin in the bath or shower, allowing the oil to emulsify into a light cleansing milk before rinsing away. For a more immersive ritual, apply slowly across the body and let the steam release the scent’s creamy green warmth over time.
